Week of September 4th, 2022
First week of back to school for my kids usually means more time to get things done. Unfortunately, this back to school week I came down with a cold. Negative for COVID (tested negative 3 different times) but it still kicked my behind. It's been years since I have been sick and it is like my body forgot how to cope with germs! (Okay, perhaps there is no scientific proof of that... but that's my story :)- )
I self quarantined to the barn just in case it was indeed COVID. I feel so lucky that we have that space to do so. We have a nice setup in the barn with a bed and desk where I keep my sewing supplies. My family would come visit me every so often and check on me (with barn doors wide open for ventilation). The cats stayed out there with me and kept me company, which I appreciated until Claude the cat decided to bring me a mouse present. At that point I was suddenly well enough to come back into the house.
When I was well enough, I worked on a couple of paintings. There was not a lot of thought that went into deciding what to paint. Most of my energy this past week was spent on getting better. But I am pleased that I still dedicated some time to practice.
Kiera and Claude hanging out in the barn with me while I worked. I love the open air to the yard so much that I think I will return to this space even when I am fully better.
Claude tried to catch this dragon fly.
Thankfully he was unsuccessful. Phew! The dragonfly is safe.
With so many distractions, how does anyone do I keep focus long enough to get any work done.
Technically this was painted before I came down with a cold... but it is new since the last post!
Trying to create with more saturation and continuing to create with different colors and light values of the same color.
Experimenting with larger petals than I am used to making.
Unfinished... but a continuation of working larger and with more saturation. It feels uncomfortable. But I know that in the uncomfortability, I learn and grow...
