The Long Silence

Wow... It's been five months since I last posted anything. A LOT has happened since then.

We moved, my youngest graduated from 8th grade, my daughters have gone to camps and back, my husband and I traveled to Canada to celebrate 20 years of marriage (gulp... we are so  old! haha) and so much more. Our lives have certainly been full.

Did I mention we moved?!! It was the hardest move I've ever made. I'm pretty sure it took some years off my life. I won't get into the specifics, but trust me when I tell you that I do not want to ever. move. again! Where we live now (just a few towns away) is just perfect for us. I certainly miss my house in the peaceful woods, but we have more space here and it suits the whole family's needs.

I've still been carving out time to create, just a bit more sporadic. I can't wait for winter! It's a time when my household is settled in and there are less reasons to go out and more reasons to paint and create. Since my last post, I have taken two art classes: a drawing class with the amazing and talented Deb Vendetti and a watercolor painting class with the also amazing and talented Holly Smith. I've learned so much from them both.

I am posting a random assortment of things I've worked on since last March. Hopefully, this is the start to getting back on track to posting weekly and to paint and/or create daily.

Shading work from drawing class

Seashell, although it's looking more like  a bloodshot eye :/

Drawing Class exercise. We usually were only given seconds to minutes to quickly sketch as much as we could see. It helps to do this exercise to loosen you up and not feel so rigid about the lines or marks you put on paper.

Not bad for being given only 20 seconds

I do love to draw flowers...
